East Anglia Mark Stewards Lodge No 1937

IMG 2167

What a fantastic evening! An eminent group of East Anglia Mark Masons gathered at the Masonic Rooms at Diss for the Installation of W.Bro. Roger Browne. In addition to brethren from East Anglia we had a large contingent of visitors including brethren from the Provincial Grand Stewards Lodges of Kent, Hampshire & Isle of Wight, Hertfordshire & Buckinghamshire.

The Lodge was opened by the outgoing Master, W. Bro. David Smith. It is tradition at EAMSL that the Installation Ceremony is conducted by a member of the Provincial Executive and on this occasion our Deputy PGM, VW Bro. Ray Clarke took the Chair and Installed W. Bro. Roger Browne. As good fortune would have it, Ray and Roger have been close friends for many years, which made the occasion even more special.

Following a beautifully performed Installation and the appointment of this year's Officers, we retired for what was one of the finest Festive Boards it has ever been my pleasure to attend. The Lodge had pulled out all the stops and had put on a particularly sumptuous banquet -

  • Smoked Salmon Garn√©, accompanied by Forest Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2013 (Marlborough NZ)
  • Wellington of Fillet of Beef, accompanied by Pask Cabernet/Merlot/Malbec 2010 (Hawkes Bay NZ)
  • Assiette of Desserts, accompanied by Stanton & Kileen Rutherglen Muscat

and a Selection of English Cheeses, accompanied by Sandeman Vau Vintage Port 1999 (Portugal).

It really was all just as good as it sounds!

Following another well established Lodge Tradition (he did it last year too), the Lodge's new Director of Ceremonies, W. Bro. Melvyn Eke gave us a detailed background and description of each of the four particularly fine wines served, which had been sourced and provided by W. Bro. Steve Frankland. All in all, an absolutely wonderful evening of fine Mark Masonry. Thank you East Anglia Mark Stewards.
