Provincial Royal Ark Mariner Assembly 2019

EARAM 2019 1

The annual takeover of Geoffrey Dicker Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners by the Provincial Grand Master, together with the Active Provincial Officers, was again a sell out at Cambridge. The Provincial Royal Ark Mariner Assembly is not only the occasion to invest and congratulate those worthy brethren who have achieved Provincial RAM honours, but to also come together from all over the Province as friends for a special evening of Mark Masonry.

It’s an afternoon start for the Active Provincial Officers, setting up and rehearsing under the direction of the Provincial DC and his team to make the takeover run smoothly. We enter in procession, Officers of Geoffrey Dicker make way for the PGM, his Wardens, DC’s, Inner Guard and we open Provincial Grand Assembly.

A brother from my own RAM lodge commented; “What a fantastic building for the Geoffrey Dicker RAM meeting, with the icing on the cake being the Provincial ceremonial, guided by Provincial DC with a great deal of decorum”.

The meeting also included a presentation of the RAM Tracing Board by Bob Hume. Quite a challenge to deliver solo, but performed and completed with applause from the nearly one hundred Mariners present, following every word and having a printed tracing board to refer to.

To end the meeting, the PGM addresses the brethren and the Provincial Officers close the Assembly, with Geoffrey Dicker members placed back in their chairs and we process out.

A short break before the Festive Board gives time for refreshment in the bar, or in the sunshine surrounded by the splendour of the buildings and lawn outside the lodge building in Cambridge.

A full dining room always gives a buzz and the noise around the room was evidence of everybody enjoying themselves. A brother from West Norfolk said, “It was an excellent evening and a wonderful atmosphere among my fellow Ark Mariners. If you have never been before, I thoroughly recommend you attend next year”.

Like the Provincial Mark meeting, the RAM Assembly is open to all and a special occasion to be shared with your fellow lodge members. A first-time attendee summed it up like this, “As a relative newcomer to RAM of two years membership, it was interesting to see the Provincial team at work. I had lots of questions afterwards which they were pleased to answer. A fantastic night, good food and extremely good company. I thoroughly enjoy both the Mark and RAM Orders, always a friendly and warm welcome at whichever lodge you visit”.
